Art Choice Day

My students always look forward to Art Centers/ Choices Day! On these days they can choose from a variety of Art Centers such as: modeling clay, zentangle, card making, Legos, weaving, and origami to name a few! It's times like these that I am reminded of the creativity of a young mind when it lets loose: no rules, no boundaries, just create!

Maps as art

The 3rd graders created Life Maps. They used real maps to help inspire them. We discussed how real maps are like art. They came up with, " lots of colors, lines, shapes, details and designs." Check out their process:

Back to the 80's club show!

Our 80's show was totally tubular! The two night spectacular event was put on by Music, Art, Tech and PE Clubs. The 4th and 5th graders dressed up like kids right out of the 80's there were even a couple Michael Jacksons. The art club created the backdrop and all the props.

Kinder Still Life

Kinders have been busy observing, drawing and coloring their pumpkin still life pieces. We started by really studying the pumpkin's shape and details. Then they drew what they saw, not what they knew about pumpkins. They colored the pumpkin's actual color and even shaded. They created a realistic background to finish them off. I'd say they look pretty professional!

4th Grade Perspective

Learning One-Point Perspective isn't easy, but it sure is fun once you get the hang of it. The 4th graders have been problem solving through one point perspective.
